The Day Of The Tres Potencias

lastrespotencias-1024x649

Today is a very important day for everyone in Maria Lionza’s religion, as it is the day of the Tres Potencias, the three most important Spirits we worship. I am not showing any of the rituals done this week because they are private, but here is some information about them:

This is a traditional Venezuelan hony card of the Tres Potencias. From left to right: Negro Felipe, Maria Lionza, and Guaicaipuro.

Negro Felipe was believed to have been an African prince, taken to Venezuela as a slave, who earnt his freedom and became a part of the military against the Spanish invasion. He stands for liberation, clarity, honour, compassion, healing, and serenity.

Maria Lionza was a) a Venezuelan Indian princess who was transformed into a goddess through the communion with a supernatural Anaconda snake; b) an extremely charitable and wise lady of spanish, indian, and black blood combined. Both stories coexist in the religion without conflict. She stands for wisdom, magic, empowerment, union with nature, generosity, and holiness.

Guaicaipuro was a Venezuelan Indian chief, who fiercely opposed the spanish invasion by leading a coalition of tribes. He was brutally burnt to death in his own hut after being betrayed and ambushed. He stands for freedom, courage, honour, intelligence, truth, and leadership.

❤️❤️❤️Feliz día de los Pueblos Indígenas, y feliz día de las Tres Potencias ❤️❤️❤️!
